Backpack Securities Adds Popular Portfolios, Earnings Calendar, and Insider
'Backpack Securities added Popular Portfolios, an Earnings Calendar,
Backpack Securities shipped three investment intelligence features in under 13 hours on July 14 and 15, adding Popular Portfolios, an Earnings Calendar, and direct access to insider transaction data from SEC EDGAR filings. The trio extends the regulated tokenized stock exchange on Solana into territory previously occupied by professional financial data platforms.
The launches follow a 13F institutional filing viewer Backpack released the day before, which surfaces major hedge fund positions from quarterly SEC disclosures. The new tools build on that same data infrastructure, applying it across three separate use cases: fund portfolio browsing, earnings event timing, and executive transaction tracking.
Popular Portfolios: Browse Berkshire Hathaway, Situational Awareness LP, and Other Fund Holdings
Popular Portfolios launched on July 14, letting Backpack users browse the equity holdings and options positions of well-known investor funds as reported in their most recent 13F filings with the SEC. The initial lineup includes Berkshire Hathaway (now reporting under CEO Greg Abel in the first full leadership quarter since Warren Buffett's departure) and Situational Awareness LP, the fund managed by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner.
13F filings are quarterly disclosures required of all institutional investment managers overseeing $100 million or more in US equity securities. The SEC publishes them through EDGAR within 45 days of each quarter close, making the data publicly accessible but rarely convenient to read. Most retail investors encounter 13F data only through summarized press coverage or dedicated screener tools.
Backpack's approach routes the same underlying disclosures into a browsable gallery alongside the platform's tradeable stock roster. A user holding a position in a tokenized stock on Backpack can now check which major funds hold the same name, without leaving the exchange interface or subscribing to a separate data service.
Earnings Calendar Arrives as Q2 Reporting Season Opens
CEO Armani Ferrante announced the Earnings Calendar on July 15 at 03:27 UTC. "Earnings and macro calendar is now live for all users on @Backpack web," he wrote. The tool covers scheduled earnings releases and macro events for stocks listed on the exchange, arriving as Q2 2026 earnings season gets underway.
The timing matters for tokenized stock holders in particular. Backpack Securities' stocks trade on Solana around the clock, including when US exchanges are closed, a feature that proved its value when Micron Technology's tokenized shares kept trading through the June 24 Nasdaq close ahead of Micron's fiscal Q3 earnings report. An earnings calendar gives every holder on the platform visibility into which names are reporting and when, so they can position before Nasdaq goes dark.
Insider Transactions: Form 4 EDGAR Filings in One Click
The third feature launched at 05:02 UTC on July 15. Ferrante announced it directly: "View all insider transactions for all stocks โ straight from EDGAR filings โ on @Backpack."
Form 4 is the SEC disclosure that corporate insiders (officers, directors, and shareholders with 10% or more ownership) must file within two business days of buying or selling company stock. The SEC's EDGAR system publishes these as they arrive, making the data public but buried in a document search interface that requires knowing what to query and how to read the raw filing output.
Backpack surfaces this data per stock, meaning a trader examining a tokenized position can see recent insider buying or selling alongside price, portfolio ownership, and earnings timing, all from the same screen.
A Research Suite Taking Shape
Read individually, each feature is incremental: an earnings calendar, a portfolio viewer, a data feed. Together, the three features advance a research layer Backpack is building on top of its brokerage and tokenization infrastructure.
Bloomberg Terminal and FactSet built substantial businesses on exactly this combination (institutional portfolio holdings, earnings scheduling, and insider transaction alerts) packaged for professional traders. Backpack is assembling the same stack for users trading tokenized stocks on Solana, where positions continue moving after the market close, through earnings announcements, and across weekends.
A 13F filing viewer released on July 14 was the first piece. Popular Portfolios, the Earnings Calendar, and Insider Transactions are three more, all shipped within 13 hours. Across all four launches, the pattern is consistent: data that has always existed in public SEC filings, restructured for traders who do not want to navigate regulatory archives. All three draw from public SEC infrastructure: 13F quarterly filings for the portfolio browser, company-filed earnings schedules for the calendar, and Form 4 disclosures for the insider transactions panel.
Demand for these tools has been growing since Backpack Securities launched its first tokenized stock in June. SPCX, Backpack's tokenized SpaceX position, had more than 11,100 holders on Solana as of July 15, up from approximately 4,500 when it launched in mid-June, a 145% increase in 32 days, per Solana Compass data.
Backpack Securities is a US-registered broker-dealer, meaning holders can redeem tokenized positions for the underlying shares and transfer them via ACATS. These research tools therefore apply to real equity positions, not price-exposure wrappers. When insider transaction data shows buying in a name, it reflects the same class of shares a Backpack holder can redeem and settle into a traditional brokerage account.
Backpack has not announced further additions to the data suite.
