MER was the utility token of Mercurial Finance, a stablecoin exchange on Solana that rebranded to Meteora and replaced MER with a new token. It was used for governance, earning trading fees, and as collateral for synthetic stablecoins. The token was issued in a sale hosted by FTX, and following the exchange's collapse, the project abandoned MER to distance itself from the fallen empire.
