As AI agents move from financial copilots to autonomous economic actors capable of initiating payments, managing treasury positions, and executing trades without direct human sign-off at every step, a foundational question emerges: who is responsible when something goes wrong? t54 Labs was founded to answer that question. The San Francisco-based startup builds the trust infrastructure that sits between autonomous agents and the financial rails they operate on, providing identity verification, real-time risk underwriting, and credit access designed specifically for machine counterparties.

Chandler Fang founded t54 in 2024 after stints as a quant trader at J.P. Morgan's Onyx blockchain-payments division and later at Ripple working on cross-border settlement. He identified the core problem: existing financial compliance frameworks were built around human identity and human behavior. An AI agent executing a payment carries none of the conventional signals — no biometrics, no behavioral history, no legal personhood — that compliance systems are designed to interrogate. Fang has noted that as agents gain the ability to initiate payments and execute transactions autonomously, there is no standardized way to verify their identity, assess their risk, or ensure accountability when things go wrong. t54's product suite addresses each of those three gaps.

Trustline: Pre-Execution Underwriting for Agents

The company's flagship product is Trustline, a real-time underwriting engine that evaluates agent-mediated transactions before they execute. Rather than flagging suspicious activity after funds have moved, Trustline operates pre-execution — aggregating identity signals, behavioral patterns, code audit results, mandate scopes, device context, and external data feeds to issue a risk decision in under five seconds. According to t54's platform metrics, Trustline has screened more than 20 million transaction records and verified over 41,000 agents.

Developers and institutions integrate Trustline through a REST API with asynchronous processing, receiving structured risk decisions that can be wired into approval flows, compliance dashboards, or automated gates. Trustline is available as a developer portal at portal.t54.ai with KYB onboarding for institutional users and webhook monitoring for real-time alerting.

Know Your Agent (KYA)

Underpinning Trustline is t54's Know Your Agent identity layer. KYA is modeled on the KYC and KYB frameworks familiar in regulated finance but rewritten for machine counterparties. A KYA verification profile covers four dimensions: developer verification (linking the agent to an accountable human or institution), model provenance (what model was deployed and from which code base), human-agent binding (which human principal authorized the agent's mandate), and intent attestation (a machine-readable declaration of what the agent is permitted to do and why). Verified agents carry a credential that can be presented at transaction time, giving the counterparty or payment processor a durable identity anchor even in fully automated flows.

x402-Secure

t54's third product is x402-Secure, an open-source SDK and proxy layer built on top of the x402 agent payment protocol — a standard incubated at Coinbase designed for machine-native HTTP-based payments. Where x402 defines how an agent requests and authorizes a payment, x402-Secure wraps that protocol with t54's identity and risk controls, allowing developers building on x402 to inherit KYA verification and Trustline's fraud detection without custom integration work. The SDK is publicly available under the t54-labs GitHub organization.

Claw Credit: Agent-Native Lending

For agents that need programmatic access to capital, t54 offers Claw Credit, an agent-native credit facility live on XRP Ledger, Solana, and Base. Claw Credit underwrites credit lines using the same verified identity and behavioral data collected by KYA and Trustline — translating an agent's transaction history, risk score, and mandate scope into a credit limit that can be drawn against in real time. The product targets use cases where agents need to front liquidity before settlement, bridge timing gaps in treasury management, or finance microtransactions at a scale that would be impractical using pre-funded wallets alone. t54 has also run a $10,000 agentic fraud bounty program tied to Claw Credit to stress-test its detection against adversarial agent behavior.

Agentic Risk Standard

Cutting across all three products is t54's Agentic Risk Standard, a research framework that quantifies agent trustworthiness through structured risk modeling. The standard transforms agent behavior — execution patterns, mandate adherence, anomaly frequency, outcome history — into auditable risk scores, giving institutions a consistent basis for setting agent access policies, delegating spending limits, and satisfying compliance requirements in jurisdictions where regulators are beginning to ask who bears responsibility for autonomous financial activity.

Funding and Investors

In February 2026, t54 closed a $5 million seed round co-led by Anagram, PL Capital, and Franklin Templeton, with participation from Ripple, Virtuals Ventures, Blockchain Coinvestors, and ABCDE. No investors took board seats, according to The Block's reporting. The raise will fund expansion of the engineering team and acceleration of partnership development. At the time of the raise, t54 employed approximately 12 people. The company operates on Google Cloud infrastructure with SOC 2 Type II certification underway, and applies AES-256 encryption across all data flows. Its compliance function is supported by an advisor with 18 years of experience across the SEC, FDIC, and FINRA.

Partnerships

Two institutional partnerships signal t54's early commercial traction. Evernorth — a Ripple-backed entity building one of the largest institutional XRP treasury operations — announced it would integrate t54's trust infrastructure to govern autonomous treasury management on XRPL, using Trustline and KYA to enforce compliance on AI-driven capital flows.

In June 2026, t54 was named a launch partner for Mastercard's Agent Pay for Machines initiative, which extends Mastercard's existing Agent Pay program to fully autonomous, machine-driven commerce including microtransactions executed without any human in the payment loop. t54 contributes its trust layer to that network, adding real-time risk assessment and KYA verification to transactions flowing through Agent Pay for Machines rails. The launch cohort also includes the Solana Foundation, Coinbase, Stripe, Ripple, Adyen, and Cloudflare — placing t54 alongside major infrastructure providers in what Mastercard framed as a foundational step toward ubiquitous machine commerce.

Solana Integration

Solana is one of t54's three supported settlement chains alongside XRPL and Base. The Claw Credit product is live on Solana, and t54's x402-Secure SDK is designed to support agent payment flows on Solana's high-throughput infrastructure. Solana's throughput and low transaction costs make it a natural fit for the high-frequency, low-value autonomous payment flows that t54's infrastructure is built to secure. The Solana Foundation's inclusion as a launch partner in the Mastercard Agent Pay for Machines program — the same initiative in which t54 plays a trust-layer role — further cements the alignment between t54's infrastructure ambitions and the Solana ecosystem.
