Passkeys Wallet
Biometric-first embedded wallet SDK for frictionless Web3 onboarding
On-chain activity
Passkeys Wallet
Passkeys Wallet is a self-custodial crypto wallet that simplifies Web3 onboarding by removing seed phrases and enabling biometric login.
Passkeys Developer Kit
Passkeys Developer Kit is an embedded wallet infrastructure with multi-party computation technology, enabling biometric authentication and cross-chain asset management. The system provides SDK integration for Web3 applications while maintaining self-custodial security through passkey protocols.
Passkeys Wallet
Passkeys Wallet is an embedded wallet developer kit built by Exodus that replaces seed phrases with biometric WebAuthn passkeys and multi-party computation (MPC). Application developers integrate it to provision secure, non-custodial wallets for end users using existing face recognition or fingerprint authentication on phones and computers — without requiring users to write down or manage private keys.
Core Mechanism
Traditional embedded wallets either expose users to seed-phrase risk or rely on a custodian holding private key fragments. Passkeys Wallet uses a different model: WebAuthn passkeys, already built into iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, serve as the authentication credential. When a user creates a wallet, the private key is generated locally and protected by the device's hardware security module (HSM) or secure enclave. Multi-party computation distributes key fragments so that no single party — not Exodus, not the integrating app — holds the complete private key.
The result is a wallet that behaves like a standard non-custodial wallet to the blockchain, while onboarding users with the same biometric experience they use to unlock their phones.
Solana Integration
Passkeys Wallet implements the Wallet Standard provider interface, the same protocol used by Phantom. This means any Solana dApp that already supports Phantom can accept Passkeys Wallet connections without additional integration work. On EVM networks, the SDK exposes an EIP-1193 provider. Bitcoin support uses Sats Connect v1.
Adding Passkeys Wallet to an application requires fewer than ten lines of code. At launch, the Solana Foundation's ConnectorKit listed Passkeys as an official wallet provider, indicating recognition from the core ecosystem.
Exodus and Public Company Context
Passkeys Wallet is a product of Exodus Movement, Inc., the consumer crypto wallet company. Exodus trades publicly on OTC Markets (ticker: EXOD), making it one of the few crypto wallet companies with public market accountability. Product development is led by David Reising at Exodus.
Exodus launched the broader Passkeys brand — passkeys.foundation — as the distribution point for the SDK, documentation, and developer resources, positioning it somewhat independently from the main Exodus consumer wallet product.
Tokens and Security
Passkeys Wallet has no protocol token. No public third-party smart contract audit has been disclosed for the SDK. The security model relies on device-level hardware security (the WebAuthn standard's mandatory use of device-bound keys) and MPC rather than a centralized custody model.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
Wallet onboarding friction remains a persistent barrier to Solana dApp adoption. Passkeys Wallet targets the specific problem of new users who have never managed a crypto wallet: biometric login removes the seed-phrase step that causes most early dropoff in Web3 onboarding flows. Because the SDK provides a Phantom-compatible Wallet Standard interface, integrating applications don't need to build separate code paths for passkey wallets versus traditional wallets — the same Solana dApp infrastructure handles both. For developers building consumer-facing applications on Solana, this reduces onboarding friction without requiring users to download a separate wallet extension or app.
