Amberdata Enterprise Data
Amberdata Enterprise Data is a normalized digital asset data infrastructure delivered via REST APIs, WebSocket feeds, and cloud integrations including Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS S3. The platform aggregates market data from centralized exchanges, DeFi protocol metrics, wallet and on-chain activity, IOSCO-compliant reference rates, and post-trade tools for risk management, regulatory compliance, and liquidity analytics.
Amberdata
Amberdata is a U.S.-based financial data infrastructure company purpose-built for institutional participation in digital asset markets. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in the United States, the platform aggregates, normalizes, and distributes data from across the fragmented cryptocurrency ecosystem — covering centralized exchanges, decentralized protocols, and on-chain networks — to give banks, hedge funds, asset managers, and regulators the same quality of data infrastructure that has long existed in traditional finance.
The Problem Amberdata Solves
Institutional adoption of digital assets has been hampered by a fundamental data quality gap. Unlike equities or fixed income, crypto markets are scattered across hundreds of centralized exchanges, thousands of decentralized protocols, and dozens of distinct blockchains, each with different schemas, latencies, and reliability characteristics. Pre-trade research, risk modeling, post-trade accounting, and regulatory reporting all require data that is clean, normalized, and historically consistent — precisely what raw blockchain and exchange feeds do not provide out of the box.
Amberdata was built to close this gap. The platform ingests raw data from over 1,000 centralized and decentralized exchanges, covers more than 500,000 trading pairs, and maintains over 13 years of standardized historical data. It then delivers this data through a suite of APIs and delivery channels that institutional technology stacks can consume directly, without requiring clients to build and maintain their own data pipelines.
Core Products
Market Data forms the foundation: real-time and historical price, volume, order book depth, and trade data from both centralized exchanges (CEXs) and decentralized exchanges (DEXs). The platform normalizes data across venues so that the same asset looks identical whether it trades on Binance, Coinbase, or a DeFi protocol, making cross-venue comparison and arbitrage analytics straightforward.
On-Chain Intelligence provides access to blockchain-level data — transactions, address balances, token transfers, smart contract events, and network health metrics such as fees, active addresses, and supply. Clients use this layer for wallet intelligence, DeFi protocol tracking, fund flow analysis, and on-chain valuation indicators including network value-to-transaction (NVT) ratios and realized price models.
Derivatives Analytics, marketed under the GenesisVol brand, is one of Amberdata's most recognized product lines and has received industry awards for its depth of coverage of the crypto options market. Institutional desks use it for implied volatility surfaces, risk reversals, funding rates, open interest, and other derivatives metrics that inform hedging and positioning decisions.
Amberdata Intelligence is an AI-driven market intelligence layer that synthesizes across data types to surface institutional insights about market structure, liquidity conditions, and macro-crypto correlations.
ARC (Asset Reference and Classification), hosted in the amberdata/arc GitHub repository, is a security master database for digital assets analogous to a CUSIP or ISIN reference file for traditional securities. It provides standardized identifiers, classification taxonomies, and metadata for tokens and protocols, enabling consistent asset identification across back-office systems.
Back Office Solutions cover tax calculation, accounting automation, and regulatory compliance reporting for digital asset portfolios, addressing the operational burden that has historically made institutional participation in crypto administratively complex.
Portfolio Management Suite allows institutions to maintain a unified view of holdings across DeFi positions, DEX liquidity, lending protocols, tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), and custodied spot positions simultaneously.
Data Delivery Architecture
Amberdata offers three primary delivery mechanisms. The HTTP REST API provides synchronous access to historical and current data for integration into analytics workflows and research platforms. WebSocket Streams deliver low-latency real-time feeds for trading systems that require sub-second updates. CloudSync bulk exports allow clients to receive large historical datasets as Parquet files in Amazon S3 or as SQL-ready tables in Snowflake, enabling data science and quant teams to run large-scale backtesting and model training without rate-limit constraints.
Solana Ecosystem Relevance
Amberdata's on-chain intelligence and DEX data infrastructure extends to Solana. The platform's DeFi and market data coverage spans both CEX order books and on-chain venues, capturing the high-frequency DEX activity and token flows that characterize the Solana ecosystem. As Solana has become one of the leading chains for stablecoin volume and DeFi activity, institutional interest in Solana-native data — liquidity metrics for Raydium and Orca, stablecoin flows, validator economics, and token transfer analytics — maps directly to Amberdata's data product portfolio. Solana stablecoin analytics were explicitly identified as an upcoming expansion of the platform's stablecoin analytics suite.
Team and Funding
Amberdata was co-founded by Shawn Douglass (CEO) and Tongtong Gong (COO). Douglass brings over two decades of enterprise technology leadership, having previously served as President and CTO at Unified, CTO at ServiceMesh (acquired by CSC for $282 million), and Managing Director at EMC Ventures, where he led strategic investments in cloud, security, and big data.
The company raised $47 million across three funding rounds, including a $30 million Series B in May 2022. Investors reflect both the institutional finance and crypto-native worlds: Nasdaq Ventures, Citi, Coinbase Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Chicago Trading Company, Boldstart Ventures, NAB Ventures, and others. Several of these investors — Citi, Nasdaq, Franklin Templeton — are also customers, underscoring the platform's institutional credibility.
Amberdata received the Best CryptoEconomic Data Global 2025 award at the International Investor Magazine Awards, and Shawn Douglass was named Data Analytics CEO of the Year USA 2025.
Acquisition by Kaiko
In June 2026, Kaiko — a French institutional digital asset market data provider — acquired Amberdata in what the companies described as a landmark consolidation of digital asset data infrastructure. The combined entity covers over 200 exchanges, more than 20 blockchains, and 20,000-plus digital assets, serving more than 260 institutional clients across three continents. Kaiko described the deal as creating "the only regulated and independent data and analytics, indices, and data infrastructure company for digital assets." Amberdata's U.S. client base, derivatives analytics, on-chain infrastructure, and AI intelligence layer complement Kaiko's European market data strengths, making the acquisition a geographic and product complement rather than a direct overlap. The acquisition marks the conclusion of Amberdata's independent operation, though the platform and products continue under the expanded Kaiko umbrella.
