AiSol Liquid Staking

What AiSol Is
AiSol is a Solana-native protocol that merges liquid staking with early-stage AI venture funding. SOL holders stake through AiSol's validator and receive AiSOL — a liquid staking token (LST) backed 1:1 by staked SOL — while the protocol directs a portion of accumulated staking rewards into grants and support for AI projects building on Solana. The project emerged from the Colosseum Breakout Hackathon, a major Solana ecosystem competition that drew over 10,000 participants and more than 1,400 project submissions.
The core premise is straightforward: staking rewards that would otherwise flow entirely back to token holders are instead split so that a share funds an on-chain AI project ecosystem. Stakers do not lose their principal — the AiSOL token remains fully redeemable for the underlying SOL — but they effectively become co-investors in AI innovation on Solana through the act of staking.
How It Works
AiSol's architecture rests on three interlocking layers:
Validator and Staking Layer. Users delegate SOL to AiSol's curated validator pool. The protocol issues AiSOL in return, a Solana Program Library (SPL) token backed 1:1 by staked SOL. This token appreciates over time as staking rewards accrue. Because AiSOL is a liquid token rather than a locked-stake position, holders can deploy it across Solana's DeFi ecosystem — lending protocols, automated market makers, and yield aggregators — while still accruing validator rewards. AiSol also participates in Solana Foundation delegation programs, which can boost yields through matched staking.
AI Venture Fund. A designated slice of staking yield is redirected into a structured funding mechanism for AI builders on Solana. Supported projects may receive grants, ecosystem partnerships, infrastructure access, or token launch assistance. Rather than asking projects to raise capital from scratch, AiSol offers a continuous, yield-driven funding flow that scales as total value locked (TVL) grows.
AI Infrastructure Stack. Beyond funding, AiSol is building technical rails for AI-on-chain use cases. The stack includes a private RPC endpoint for low-latency transaction submission, a Block Engine for transaction sequencing, an off-chain trusted execution environment (TEE) for secure AI computation that can interact with on-chain data, and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that bridges AI language models with on-chain execution. This infrastructure layer positions AiSol as more than a yield mechanism — it is designed to become foundational plumbing for AI applications that need to read from and write to Solana with low latency and verifiable computation.
Token and Economics
The protocol's native token is $AISOL (SPL standard). It serves three primary roles: facilitating staking, participating in governance decisions over the AI funding allocation, and gating access to platform features such as priority allocations in funded project launches or airdrop eligibility from portfolio projects.
AiSOL, the liquid staking token, is distinct from $AISOL as a governance and utility layer. AiSOL is the yield-bearing receipt token issued 1:1 against staked SOL. $AISOL is the protocol's utility and governance token.
The project launched in mid-2025 and has published a phased roadmap:
- Phase 1: Reach 10,000 SOL staked
- Phase 2 (Q3 2025): Launch the liquid staking token (AiSOL) at 100,000 SOL TVL
- Phase 3 (Q4 2025): Expand the LST and onboard institutional investors
- Phase 4 (Q1 2026): Deploy the AI infrastructure layer (TEE, MCP server, Block Engine)
- Phase 5 (2026): Reach 1 million SOL staked and establish the formal AI startup fund
- Phase 6 (TBA): Enable full community governance over funding decisions
Team and Background
AiSol is developed by the team behind AiNodes-Tech, a validator infrastructure operator focused on Solana node management and staking. AiNodes-Tech describes its mission as "expert node management and staking solutions" with a public GitHub presence that includes Solana validator monitoring tooling. The team operates under the Twitter handle @ainodestech alongside the project-specific @aisolfi account.
The AiNodes-Tech origin is meaningful context: the AiSol team comes from the validator operations side of Solana rather than from a pure DeFi or VC background. This shapes the infrastructure-first approach — rather than launching a purely financial product, AiSol is building the node and RPC layer alongside the staking mechanism.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
AiSol occupies a distinct niche within Solana's liquid staking landscape. Established LST providers compete primarily on yield rate and DeFi integrations. AiSol differentiates by directing a portion of yield toward an ecosystem development function, appealing to SOL holders who want their stake to contribute to Solana's AI narrative rather than simply maximizing personal APY.
Solana's technical characteristics make it a natural fit for AI applications: the network sustains approximately 65,000 transactions per second with fees around $0.00025, making real-time on-chain interactions — such as AI agents transacting or reading state — economically viable in ways that are impractical on higher-fee chains. AiSol's MCP server integration and TEE layer are designed to exploit these properties, enabling AI models to interact with Solana contracts directly.
The project's Breakout Hackathon origin also gives it a degree of community visibility within Solana builder circles, as Colosseum hackathons attract the ecosystem's active developer base.
Risks and Caveats
AiSol is an early-stage project. At the time of writing, it has not published a security audit, and the AI venture fund mechanism — specifically how projects are selected for funding and how reward allocation is governed — is not yet fully specified in public documentation. The AI infrastructure stack (TEE, MCP server) is described as a planned phase rather than a live deployment. Prospective stakers should weigh validator concentration risk and the absence of a published audit when evaluating AiSOL as an LST against more established alternatives.
