SolMail
SolMail provides wallet-native encrypted communication on Solana, enabling users to send and receive messages using wallet addresses as identities. The protocol employs Elgamal session keys for end-to-end encryption and integrates with Solana Name Service for user-friendly addressing. Users communicate without centralized servers through direct wallet-to-wallet messaging.
Solmail
SolMail is a wallet-native, censorship-resistant, end-to-end encrypted communication protocol built on the Solana blockchain. It reimagines email as a blockchain-native system: instead of email addresses hosted by a service provider, Solana wallet addresses become inboxes, and messages can carry tokens, NFTs, contracts, or invoices alongside ordinary text. The protocol recorded the first email on the Solana blockchain on March 26, 2024. Since then it has expanded into a V2 architecture adding identity ownership, a utility token, on-chain governance, and native mobile apps. SolMail operates as four layers. Identity: every Solana wallet is a valid inbox by default. Users can optionally claim Solana Name Service handles, .mail domains, or email-style addresses as on-chain NFTs — tradable and not revocable by any operator. Messaging: end-to-end encryption using ElGamal cryptography, file attachments stored via Irys decentralized storage, and the core Fusion NFT mail format built on the Trifle composability framework, enabling messages to embed payments, NFTs, invoices, or contracts. Economics: the MAIL utility token can be burned to unlock premium features, integrate plugins, and join the MailDrop program; burn mechanics also deter spam. A marketplace called mail.fun handles identity auctions, newsletters, and creator subscriptions using Solana Pay. Governance: MailDAO gives MAIL holders on-chain control over protocol upgrades, treasury management, and spam economics. Key capabilities include universal wallet inboxes, programmable messages that double as execution surfaces for Web3 workflows, self-sovereign identities as NFTs, real-time push notifications, and Web3 SSO login across Solana dApps. SolMail is available as a native app on iOS and Android. The mobile app entered beta with the Saga Mobile dApp in May 2024 and supports airdrop claiming directly in the inbox. Full deployment with Web2 interoperability and MAIL token utilities launched August 2024. The MAIL token trades on Raydium. SolMail fills a gap in the Solana stack — a communication layer — integrating with Solana Name Service and Solana Pay and positioning itself as a potential identity primitive for other dApps.
