Solana ANZ

Solana ANZ is a community organisation founded in December 2023 to coordinate Solana ecosystem activity across Australia and New Zealand. It operates as a regional hub, running meetups, hackathons, monthly calls, and educational events in cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane, Wellington, Adelaide, Cairns, and Perth. Events and Community Programming

The centrepiece of Solana ANZ recurring programming is the Solana Ecosystem Call for Australia and New Zealand, a monthly initiative that combines an online broadcast with in-person replay events held simultaneously in participating cities. The format keeps regional participants connected to wider Solana ecosystem developments without requiring travel to international conferences. Attendees at in-person replay nodes receive POAPs, prizes, and the opportunity to network locally.

In-person meetups have been held in Melbourne since early 2024. A Solana Melbourne Meetup took place in January 2024 at the Greythorn Office, and a Future of Payments event followed in June 2024. The community has also co-hosted developer-oriented events including a Rust Melbourne Meetup at Stone and Chalk Melbourne Startup Hub and a Supabase x Solana build session focused on application development tooling.

Solana ANZ maintains a Luma events calendar where new events are listed and community members can submit events for inclusion. The organisation is active across X (as @SolanaANZ), LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

Hackaroo

Solana ANZ organises Hackaroo, a hackathon for the Australian Solana community run through Superteam Earn, a Solana-native platform for bounties and project listings. The Hackaroo listing on Superteam Earn attracted 65 submissions and was used to source creative work for the hackathon branding. Solana ANZ coordinates with Superteam Australia on developer programming more broadly, including events connected to the SOLAUDD Solana developer programme and a national tour of Australian cities.

anzSOL Liquid Staking Token

Solana ANZ issues anzSOL, a liquid staking token (LST) for community members in the Australia and New Zealand region. The token allows holders to stake SOL while retaining a tradeable representation of their staked position. Solana ANZ promotes anzSOL as a way for community members to show regional support within the Solana ecosystem. The anzSOL subdomain previously hosted at anzsol.solanaanz.org was inaccessible at the time of writing; users seeking current staking information should consult the main site at solanaanz.org.

Regional Context

Solana ANZ operates in a region with a growing Solana developer community. Superteam Australia, a separate but related initiative, has run national developer tours and launched the SOLAUDD programme in partnership with the Australian University Developer Community. The Solana ANZ Luma calendar surfaces events from multiple Melbourne-based Web3 meetup groups, including Rust Melbourne and events co-hosted with Clerk and Supabase, indicating coordination across the local developer community beyond purely Solana-native gatherings.

The organisation partners with the Solana Foundation to promote ecosystem events in the region and describes itself as an onboarding platform for Solana enthusiasts, developers, and potential stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand.
