Omnity Hub

Omnity Hub implements fully on-chain Bitcoin interoperability through trust-minimized verification, enabling cross-chain asset transfers and contract interactions. The system connects Bitcoin with multiple blockchains while maintaining security through on-chain verification.

Omnity Network

Omnity Network is a trust-minimized cross-chain interoperability protocol built on the Internet Computer (ICP) that serves as a central asset hub for moving Bitcoin-native assets—including Runes, BTC, and ICRC tokens—across Solana, Ethereum-compatible chains, TON, ICP, and Cosmos-based networks without relying on centralized custodians or external validator sets.

From Octopus to Omnity

Omnity Network traces its roots to Octopus Network, an interoperability protocol launched in 2021 to connect NEAR ecosystem appchains. While developing adaptive IBC bridges between NEAR and Cosmos chains, the team identified a larger opportunity: using the Internet Computer as a programmable proxy layer for Bitcoin. The project rebranded to Omnity in 2024, pivoting entirely to Bitcoin infrastructure and cross-chain asset movement. The team is led by founder and CEO Louis Liu and operates with approximately 24 staff, headquartered in Seychelles.

How It Works: Hub and Spoke on ICP

Omnity's core design is a hub-and-spoke architecture centered on a Hub canister deployed on the Internet Computer. This Hub canister handles chain registration, token registration, and cross-chain ticket execution. It acts as the coordination layer that other chains plug into—rather than establishing direct peer-to-peer bridges between every supported network.

The system distinguishes between two types of participant chains. Settlement chains—Bitcoin, Solana, ICP, and Dogecoin—hold and manage actual assets on their respective networks. Execution chains—including TON, Solana, EVM-compatible networks, and CosmWasm-compatible chains—handle transaction logic and application execution. Solana participates in both roles, making it a first-class citizen in the Omnity ecosystem.

The mechanism that makes this possible without traditional custodians is ICP's Chain Fusion technology. Chain Fusion provides Chain-key cryptography and threshold-Schnorr signing (TSS), enabling ICP canisters to sign transactions on external chains—including Bitcoin—without ever exposing a private key to a single party. When a user initiates a cross-chain transfer, the Hub creates a ticket representing the intent, the relevant settlement canisters verify the source transaction, and the Hub authorizes execution on the destination chain. This replaces the relayer networks and multi-sig federations common in other bridge designs with on-chain, verifiable computation.

Key Products

Omnity Hub is the central coordination layer. It maintains a registry of connected chains and tokens, processes cross-chain tickets, and routes assets between settlement and execution environments. Developers can integrate with it via Rust or TypeScript SDKs, using either direct canister calls or HTTP-based interactions.

Runes Indexer is positioned as the first fully on-chain Bitcoin asset indexer, parsing OP_RETURN metadata for Bitcoin Runes—the UTXO-based fungible token protocol introduced in April 2024. By indexing Runes on-chain within ICP, Omnity avoids dependence on centralized off-chain data sources when bridging these assets to other networks.

Runes Exchange Environment (REE) is a Turing-complete execution environment that uses Partially Signed Bitcoin Transactions (PSBTs) to enable composable DeFi protocols to run against Bitcoin-native assets without requiring protocol forks or new Bitcoin opcodes. REE allows smart contract-like logic to operate on Runes within a fully on-chain environment.

RichSwap is the first application built on REE, launched in February 2025. It is an automated market maker (AMM) DEX for Bitcoin Runes, giving users on-chain price discovery and swaps for Runes tokens. By late May 2025, RichSwap had accumulated over 4 BTC in total value locked. The platform has since added trading candlestick charts, price impact limits, and a donation mechanism that lets users contribute BTC directly to liquidity pools.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Solana's role in Omnity is substantial. As a settlement chain, Solana's SPL token standard assets can originate and terminate cross-chain transfers through the Omnity Hub. As an execution chain, Solana-based applications can receive and use Bitcoin Runes and other assets bridged through Omnity. This means Solana DeFi protocols can access Bitcoin-native liquidity that would otherwise be siloed on the Bitcoin base layer or its L2s. Bitcoin Runes tokens can be represented on Solana as SPL tokens, and the bridge operates through ICP's on-chain threshold signing rather than a wrapped-asset custodian model.

The $OT Token

The $OT token serves as Omnity's governance and utility token, built on ICP's Service Nervous System (SNS) framework. Token holders can stake $OT to vote on protocol upgrades, including which blockchains can connect to or be expelled from the Omnity interoperability network. Beyond governance, $OT functions as a work token: node operators stake it to run infrastructure and earn a share of protocol fees. Revenue from shared security services is distributed with 30% going to SNS stakers, 60% to node operators, and 10% held in an insurance reserve.

Supported Chains and Assets

Omnity supports routes connecting Bitcoin (for Runes and native BTC), Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains, Solana, TON, ICP, Dogecoin, and several Bitcoin Layer 2 networks including Bitlayer, Bitfinity, and Core. Bridgeable assets include ICP ICRC tokens, Solana SPL tokens, Dogecoin tokens, Bitcoin Runes, and wrapped BTC representations on target chains. The protocol temporarily reduced its L2 support in Q1 2025 to streamline development and maintenance, while keeping all related contracts and blockchain addresses publicly accessible.

Funding and Ecosystem Activity

Omnity Network raised $9 million from over 45 investors, including A2DAO, AngelDAO, ARKN Ventures, Aussie Capital, and Autonomy Capital. Beyond bridging, Omnity's REE environment has attracted additional builders: RichOrdi, an NFT dApp for Bitcoin ordinals, completed internal testing in mid-2025, and Tyche, a Bitcoin game by Bitomni, joined the REE ecosystem. Omnity publishes regular monthly progress reports and has been an active presence at industry events including Bitcoin Vegas 2025.

Security Posture

Omnity's security model relies on ICP's Chain Fusion infrastructure, which provides full-node-level Bitcoin verification rather than light-client proofs, and threshold cryptography that avoids single-point key custody. The team has referenced code auditing processes for specific integrations as part of pre-launch procedures, though public audit reports from major third-party security firms have not been prominently disclosed.
