Coin98

[[PROJECT:1557]] is a non-custodial multi-chain wallet and DeFi platform founded in Vietnam in 2018 by Thanh Le and Nguyen The Vinh. What began as an educational YouTube channel in 2017 became a full product company the following year after Le assembled a development team and launched the Coin98 wallet alongside a built-in exchange. The project describes itself as the gateway to the open internet for everyone, and the platform has grown to support more than 10 million users across 170 countries, with coverage spanning 140 blockchains through a single mobile and browser extension wallet.

The Coin98 Super Wallet is the flagship product. Available as a mobile app and a Chrome browser extension, it lets users store, send, and receive assets across EVM and non-EVM networks including Solana, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Optimism, and more than 130 others. NFTs on both EVM and non-EVM chains are supported natively. For key management the wallet offers standard seed phrases alongside social login through Google, Facebook, Apple ID, and email, and it integrates with Ledger and Trezor hardware wallets. An AI assistant named Cypheus is embedded in the wallet to provide guidance and product support. The Zen Card feature combines hot and cold wallet properties in a single hybrid instrument.

Swapping and bridging are built directly into the wallet rather than handled through a separate application. SwapX consolidates DEX aggregation and cross-chain bridging in one interface, routing across ten blockchains including Solana, BNB Chain, Sui, and Base. Coin98 has connected 17 DEX aggregators to source liquidity. Stablecoin swaps carry a 0.1% fee. SpaceGate, the platform dedicated cross-chain bridge, handles asset transfers across Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Polygon, and Viction.

Perpetual futures trading was added to the wallet as a fully self-custodial, DEX-native product. Coin98 Perps allows users to long or short crypto assets, tokenized equities including tech stocks, and commodities with up to 10x leverage without leaving the wallet or transferring assets to a centralized exchange. The March 2026 product sync reported that the Perps Arena 2 trading competition drew 562 participants and 3.23 million dollars in trading volume, placing Coin98 in Hyperliquid top 12 by user count. By June 2026 the platform had listed 16 additional markets covering stocks such as ASML, IBM, DELL, and QCOM alongside emerging sector tokens.

Privacy functionality arrived in 2026 through an integration with Houdini Swap, enabling private token transfers and swaps. Initially mobile-only, Private Mode expanded to the browser extension in the June 2026 update, allowing users to conduct private onchain activity across both desktop and mobile. A separate integration with Specify brought privacy-focused onchain discovery without cookies or fingerprinting.

The DApp browser inside the wallet provides access to more than 15,000 dApps, with Coin98 having onboarded 26 new blockchains and 120 new dApps through 2025 alone. Coin98 Messenger, a blockchain-based messaging layer, supports peer-to-peer payments and can be accessed via wallet address through the OneID identity system. The BOBA rewards program, launched to incentivize active onchain participation, distributed more than 7.5 million BOBA points to over 12,000 wallets in its first week.

For developers, the Coin98 Adapter packages the wallet multi-chain engine as an npm library. It ships a connection modal with light and dark mode and supports 33 EVM-compatible chains in addition to non-EVM networks. Installation uses @coin98-com/wallet-adapter-react alongside wallet-specific packages for Coin98 and MetaMask, with setup guides for Next.js and React.

Token holders can stake C98 to earn passive yields and X-Points, which translate into governance weight and improved tier access for early project launches on the platform. C98 also covers fees for premium wallet features.

Coin98 has continued active development and community engagement into mid-2026. The team presented at Conviction Vietnam 2026 in August 2026, a national digital asset and AI event, demonstrating an AI-powered security focus the company has built into its current brand positioning. The March 2026 update introduced a dedicated web application targeting advanced traders alongside the brand refresh toward a secure financial platform powered by AI. Recent chain integrations include Concordium, an ID-integrated L1 blockchain, and ADI Chain for payment and real-world asset applications.

The project was founded with early DeFi ecosystem ties: Coin98 founder Thanh Le was an early investor in ThorChain, Band Protocol, and Alpha Finance, giving the team direct exposure to the cross-chain infrastructure problems the wallet attempts to address. Coin98 Finance, the parent entity, operates the wallet, exchange, bridge, and perpetuals trading products as a unified ecosystem under the C98 token.
