Cobo
Cobo is an institutional-grade digital asset custody and wallet infrastructure platform that helps exchanges, crypto funds, fintech companies, payment processors, and traditional brokerages build secure on-chain operations. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Singapore, the company has processed over $3.8 trillion in transactions across 200 million wallets without a single security breach.
Founding and Team
Cobo was co-founded by Discus Fish (Mao Shixing) and Dr. Changhao Jiang. Discus Fish co-founded F2Pool, one of the largest Bitcoin mining pools. Dr. Changhao Jiang holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and previously worked at Google and Facebook. In 2013, he founded Bihang, China's first Bitcoin wallet.
What Cobo Provides
Cobo's core offering is a Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS 2.0) platform exposing a unified API covering four wallet architectures:
Custodial Wallets — fully managed by Cobo using hardware security modules (HSMs) and Intel SGX secure enclaves.
MPC Wallets — use Threshold Signature Scheme (TSS) cryptography. Key shares are distributed across multiple isolated locations inside Trusted Execution Environments. A full private key never exists at any point. Cobo offers Organization-Controlled Wallets (OCW) and User-Controlled Wallets (UCW).
Smart Contract Wallets — programmable on-chain accounts supporting Safe{Wallet} with a co-signer module for governance and approval flows.
Exchange Wallets — programmable management of assets held on Binance, OKX, Bybit, and Deribit through Cobo's unified interface.
Across all types, Cobo provides token sweeping, gas fee management via a Fee Station abstraction, webhook notifications, and a customizable transaction policy engine with transfer limits, blacklists, whitelists, and smart contract risk screening.
Solana Support
Solana is among the 80+ blockchains supported. In 2025, Cobo added cross-chain token bridge support including Solana alongside Ethereum, Tron, and BNB Chain. Cobo partners with Figment to enable institutional Solana staking through its custody infrastructure, allowing organizations to earn staking rewards without moving assets off their Cobo-secured wallets.
Agentic Wallet
In April 2026, Cobo launched the Cobo Agentic Wallet (CAW), extending infrastructure to AI-driven on-chain execution. CAW is the first MPC-based self-custodial wallet designed specifically for AI agents. Its Pact protocol creates dynamically generated authorization contracts defining precise execution boundaries for each task an AI agent is permitted to carry out. CAW integrates with OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain, and Claude MCP, and supports 80+ blockchains including Solana.
Security and Scale
Cobo holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type I and II certifications with semi-annual penetration tests. It maintains AML and KYT compliance through Chainalysis and Elliptic partnerships. Since 2017, Cobo reports zero successful security breaches. The company serves 500+ organizations globally including Deribit, BitMart, and Vantage Markets.
Cobo has raised $70 million total including a $40 million Series B in September 2021 led by DST Global and A&T Capital, with participation from HashKey Capital and IMO Ventures.
Ecosystem Position
Within the Solana ecosystem, Cobo occupies the infrastructure layer. It provides the custody rail, key management, and compliance layer that institutions need before they can participate in DeFi protocols or offer crypto-native services. Its WaaS 2.0 API means a business integrating Cobo for Solana gets not just a wallet but the full stack: signing, policy enforcement, cross-chain bridging, staking integration, and AML screening under a single API contract.
