AirdropAlert

AirdropAlert is a curated airdrop directory that aggregates and verifies cryptocurrency token distribution campaigns. The platform categorizes listings by blockchain ecosystem, project type, and campaign status, providing participation guides for each airdrop. Users filter opportunities by DeFi, NFT, and other categories, with notification features for new campaigns and eligibility checks. The platform also operates paid promotional listing services for blockchain projects seeking community growth through airdrop distribution.

AirdropAlert

AirdropAlert is the world's first dedicated crypto airdrop aggregator. Founded in June 2017 by Morten Christensen, a Dutch entrepreneur and Bitcoin early adopter, the platform was built to solve a straightforward problem: token distributions were happening across the crypto ecosystem, but there was no central place to discover, track, or learn how to participate in them. Christensen had experienced the friction personally, having claimed early airdrops from Stellar Lumens and Byteball through scattered forums and word of mouth. The platform he built to fix that gap is now approaching a decade of continuous operation.

Founding and Early History

AirdropAlert's early days required Christensen to manufacture both supply and demand simultaneously. When he launched the platform from Chiang Mai, Thailand, only six to eight airdrops existed to list. His solution was direct outreach: cold emails to ICO projects explaining the promotional value of running an airdrop campaign through his directory. The pitch worked. As projects signed on, AirdropAlert evolved from a passive aggregator into an active campaign manager, running distributions manually through Google Forms and Telegram groups before purpose-built tooling existed.

The platform's first on-chain distribution contract was for Oyster Pearl (PRL) on Ethereum on November 14, 2017 — still traceable on-chain. That campaign established the revenue model that has sustained the business: projects pay to list and promote their token distributions, while participants use the platform for free.

In 2018, AirdropAlert pioneered what it called Phase Airdrops with the Acorn project — splitting a single distribution into multiple capped tranches. This structure, designed to manage demand and prevent bot farming at scale, is now recognized as the precursor to the season-based airdrop rounds that define how major protocols like Arbitrum and Hyperliquid have distributed tokens.

How the Platform Works

AirdropAlert operates as a curated discovery layer sitting between crypto projects and the users who want to participate in their token distributions. The core product is a browsable directory of active, upcoming, and concluded airdrop campaigns, searchable by blockchain, category, and status.

Each listing includes a step-by-step participation guide detailing exactly what actions qualify a wallet — joining a Telegram group, bridging funds, executing a swap, providing liquidity, or holding an NFT. The platform performs an initial vetting review of each project's legitimacy and team background before publishing a listing, and all airdrops listed are free for users to enter.

Projects pay for listings and can purchase promotional packages including social media promotion and banner advertising. Custom campaign management, including running the distribution logistics, is also available at pricing negotiated based on scope and duration.

Eligibility Checker

One of the platform's more technically differentiated tools is its airdrop eligibility checker, powered by Dropsbot. Users paste a public wallet address and the tool cross-references it against the claim criteria for over 360 tracked airdrop campaigns without requiring a wallet connection. Results include which campaigns the address qualifies for, estimated token values, and verified claiming links. The checker supports Ethereum and major Layer 2s, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Cosmos, Sui, Aptos, Bitcoin, and additional networks.

Solana Coverage

Solana occupies a prominent position in AirdropAlert's coverage. The platform maintains a dedicated Solana hub surfacing active campaigns from DeFi protocols, gaming projects, NFT collections, and staking programs operating on the network. Historical Solana campaigns tracked by AirdropAlert include BONK (50% of total supply distributed to the Solana community in December 2022), Pyth Network, and Jito — distributions that collectively delivered tens of millions of dollars to early ecosystem participants.

The eligibility checker's Solana support means users can paste a Solana wallet address alongside EVM addresses to get a unified view of unclaimed tokens across chains in a single query.

Scale and Recognition

The platform reports over 25 million total visitors, listings covering more than 5,000 airdrops since 2017, and more than 3,000 businesses that have used its promotional services. It operates in 200 countries and supports 15 languages.

Coverage of AirdropAlert and its CEO has appeared in CNN, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, BBC, NBC, Wired, and MarketWatch. Investopedia cites AirdropAlert research in its historical documentation of crypto airdrops, and BitcoinWiki's airdrop article is closely derived from the platform's original 2017 explainer.

Business Model and Revenue

AirdropAlert generates revenue from the project side of the marketplace, not from participants. Projects pay fixed fees for standard listings and social promotion packages. Enterprise campaigns — where AirdropAlert manages distribution logistics, community outreach, and multi-phase rollouts — are priced individually. There is no native platform token and no subscription requirement for airdrop hunters.

Content and Community

Beyond the directory, AirdropAlert maintains an active blog covering airdrops, DeFi strategies, meme coins, NFT markets, trading analysis, and regulatory developments. The content targets active crypto participants researching which platforms to farm and what strategies to deploy. As of July 2026, the blog and Twitter account remain actively updated, with recent posts covering Solana DeFi opportunities, memecoin mechanics, and new airdrop campaigns across multiple chains.

CEO Morten Christensen's profile as a Bitcoin Class of 2013 investor and the platform's near-decade operational track record position AirdropAlert as one of the more established infrastructure services in the airdrop sector — a market that has matured considerably since Christensen was manually sending tokens to Telegram wallet submissions in 2017.
