3xpl

3xpl (short for "3xplor3r") is a universal blockchain explorer built by former Blockchair engineers, designed to surface data from more than 50 public blockchains through a single interface. The platform is built on two design priorities: a consistent data model across every chain it indexes, and delivery without advertising or third-party tracking.

The founding team's Blockchair background brings deep familiarity with blockchain data infrastructure to a product built with multi-chain breadth as a first principle rather than a later addition.

Supported Networks

3xpl covers over 50 blockchains spanning first-generation proof-of-work chains, major proof-of-stake networks, and several Layer 2 rollups. Major networks include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Monero, TON, and TRON. More recent additions include Base, Blast, and Linea. The platform processes approximately 658 million blockchain events per 24-hour period across all indexed chains, around 7,620 events per second, according to the 3xpl dashboard.

Data Products

3xpl offers several related services rather than a single web interface:

Blockchain Explorer — a web interface for querying blocks, transactions, addresses, and tokens across all supported networks, with real-time metrics and 24-hour event counts per chain.

JSON API — a standardized API layer that exposes blockchain data through a consistent schema regardless of which chain is queried. Developers write application code against the 3xpl schema once and apply it across every supported network.

WebSocket API — a streaming interface for real-time blockchain data, delivering new block and transaction events as they occur.

ClickHouse API — access to aggregated, analytically-oriented blockchain data suited for historical analysis and large-scale aggregate queries.

Database Dumps — daily exports of blockchain data in TSV format for import into relational or columnar databases, following the same universal schema as the API layer.

PDF Services — generation of formatted transaction receipts and wallet statements for accounting, compliance, or personal record-keeping.

LLM API — a middleware service that sits between raw blockchain data and language model integrations, enabling AI-powered applications to query and reason over on-chain activity without parsing chain-specific RPC responses directly.

Technical Architecture

3xpl's core architecture is open-source. The primary codebase, labeled "Core Modules," is maintained in PHP at github.com/3xplcom. The organization also maintains "Awesome-Block-Explorers," a curated directory of alternative blockchain explorer tools.

Privacy is built into the product: no third-party trackers are embedded in the web interface, and the service is accessible over a Tor onion address for users who require anonymity. The platform claims at least a 10x speed improvement over comparable multi-chain explorer interfaces. The ClickHouse API backend is consistent with a system optimized for read-heavy workloads, though independent benchmarking of the speed claim is not publicly available.

Solana Coverage

Solana is one of the primary chains indexed by 3xpl. The explorer exposes Solana block data, transaction records, and account activity through the same interface and API schema as other supported chains. For developers and analysts working across multiple networks, this means Solana data is accessible alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other chains through a single, standardized integration.

The LLM API is relevant to the growing class of AI agents operating on Solana, allowing natural-language queries over on-chain state without requiring the application to handle chain-specific parsing. For dedicated Solana tooling — NFT galleries, DeFi position tracking, program analytics — chain-specific explorers offer deeper ecosystem integration. 3xpl's advantage is in cross-chain contexts where a unified schema across 50+ networks is operationally significant.

Academic and Developer Access

3xpl offers free data access for academic users, positioning the platform as a research tool alongside a production data service. Daily database dumps in TSV format match the format commonly used in academic blockchain research, where large historical datasets need to be ingested into analysis environments rather than queried through a rate-limited API.

For developers building multi-chain applications — portfolio trackers, compliance tools, analytics dashboards — the uniform schema reduces integration overhead. Chain-specific parsing is handled upstream by 3xpl rather than by each consuming application.

Business Model

3xpl operates without display advertising, a structural choice that shapes both the user experience and revenue model. API access and data services are the commercial layer; the no-ads model aligns incentives toward data quality and uptime rather than page view volume. The service also extends free academic access, which it acknowledges reduces short-term revenue in exchange for research community adoption.
