OpenYield Joins Pyth Network, Adding Firm US Treasury Bond Pricing to Institutional DeFi
OpenYield, an SEC-registered bond ATS, joins Pyth Network as a data publisher, bringing firm, executable US Treasury pricing to Pyth Pro from a live orderbook.
OpenYield, an SEC-registered Alternative Trading System, joined Pyth Network PYTH$0.038-2.8% Pyth Network as a data publisher on July 24, bringing firm, executable US Treasury pricing sourced from its live bond marketplace to the network's Pyth Pro service.
The coverage spans the full US Treasury curve, thousands of corporate bonds, and tens of thousands of municipal bonds. OpenYield sources this pricing directly from its active orderbook rather than from indicative or modeled estimates, giving downstream applications access to transaction-ready quotes.
"Bond data has always trailed equities - expensive, fragmented, hard to reach," said Jonathan Birnbaum, founder and CEO of OpenYield. "As fixed income goes electronic, OpenYield is closing that gap: equity-like execution, and now equity-like data."
Fixed Income Expansion: Fenics and Tradeweb Join Alongside OpenYield
The July 24 announcement builds on a broader Pyth fixed income expansion announced July 15, when OpenYield joined two other institutional providers. Fenics Market Data, the data arm of BGC Group, contributes executable dealer-to-dealer OTC pricing representing more than $1 trillion in daily transaction volume across rates, credit, FX, commodities, and energy. Tradeweb Markets (Nasdaq: TW) adds live electronic trading prices and its FTSE Benchmark Closing Prices covering UK Gilts, US Treasuries, and European government bonds.
Together, the three providers extend Pyth's data across the institutional fixed income spectrum: government debt at multiple maturities, investment-grade and high-yield credit, and OTC derivatives pricing.
Firm vs. Indicative: What the Data Quality Difference Means for On-Chain Protocols
The distinction between firm and indicative pricing matters for DeFi applications. Indicative prices show where a dealer might trade; firm prices show where they will. For protocols using price feeds to value collateral, trigger liquidations, or structure yield products, the reliability of that underlying data determines how correctly those operations execute.
Fixed income has historically lagged equities in data accessibility. The traditional market data industry has centered on exchange-traded assets, and quality bond pricing has required expensive institutional subscriptions. OpenYield's ATS status means it operates a regulated electronic marketplace where prices are generated through actual trades rather than models, the same type of source that underpins equity pricing.
On the same blog, Mike Cahill, CEO of Douro Labs and a contributor to Pyth Network, described the expansion as "a structural step toward a unified, modern market data standard," pointing to fixed income pricing as foundational to global financial markets.
Pyth Pro Now Covers Fixed Income Alongside Equities, FX, and Commodities
Pyth Pro, the network's subscription tier for institutional-grade market data, now distributes Treasury and fixed income pricing through the same integration used for other asset classes. Pyth has previously described itself as competing to disrupt the $50 billion market data industry by offering institutional pricing at a fraction of traditional costs.
On July 16, the day after the fixed income expansion was announced, daily transactions on the Pyth oracle program reached 358,000, more than twice the roughly 163,000 logged the day before, according to Solana Compass analytics.
Daily transactions on Pyth's oracle program more than doubled on July 16, the day after the fixed income expansion was announced, reaching 358,000 versus a typical range of 150,000β175,000 over the preceding three weeks.
View on Solana Compass βFor Solana-based RWA protocols building yield products and lending infrastructure around tokenized Treasuries, the addition of firm, executable pricing through Pyth removes a data quality gap those applications previously had to work around. Executable prices from a live secondary market are stronger inputs for valuation and risk management than modeled estimates, and the availability of that data through a single on-chain integration makes it reachable by any application already using Pyth feeds.
