FixedFloat
FixedFloat is a web-based cryptocurrency exchange that processes instant swaps across multiple networks. It offers fixed-rate and floating-rate modes with automated pricing, transparent fees, and order tracking through the interface or API.
FixedFloat
FixedFloat is a non-custodial, automated cryptocurrency exchange that has operated since 2018. Originally accessible at fixedfloat.com, the platform migrated its primary domain to ff.io following a security rebuilding effort in mid-2024. It bills itself as a "lightning cryptocurrency exchange," emphasizing fast, registration-free swaps across more than 100 digital assets without requiring users to create accounts or submit identity documents.
How It Works
The exchange process on FixedFloat follows three steps. A user selects the currency pair and amount they want to swap, chooses a pricing mode, and enters a recipient wallet address. FixedFloat then generates a deposit address. Once the user sends funds and the required number of network confirmations are reached, the service automatically completes the exchange and sends the converted amount to the specified address.
FixedFloat operates as a non-custodial platform, meaning it does not hold users' funds at rest. The service sources liquidity to fulfill swaps without retaining assets between transactions, which means customer balances are not maintained on the platform.
Pricing Modes
Users choose between two rate types at the time of order creation:
- Fixed rate: The exchange rate is locked for approximately ten minutes while the user sends the deposit. A 1% service fee applies. This mode protects users from market volatility during the transaction window.
- Floating rate: The rate adjusts to market conditions at the time the deposit is received. A 0.5% service fee applies. This mode can result in a better or worse rate depending on market movement during confirmation time.
Both modes include miner fees and network consolidation costs on top of the service fee, which FixedFloat presents transparently at the time of order creation.
Supported Assets and Networks
FixedFloat supports more than 100 cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchain networks. Solana (SOL) is among the supported assets, and users can exchange to or from SOL against other chains. SPL tokens issued on the Solana network are also available for exchange through the platform. Other supported assets include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple (XRP), Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT), Monero (XMR), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Zcash (ZEC), and stablecoins including USDT and USDC across multiple networks such as TRON TRC-20, Ethereum ERC-20, and others. Bitcoin Lightning Network transfers are supported for BTC transactions.
Privacy and KYC Policy
FixedFloat does not require user registration, email addresses, or identity verification to conduct standard exchanges. No account is needed and no personal data is collected for ordinary transactions. The service notes in its terms that it may impose identity verification, know-your-customer checks, or source-of-funds documentation for specific transactions if required by law or internal compliance policy — particularly for cases flagged by automated monitoring. Transactions involving addresses linked to sanctions lists can be subject to holds.
Legal and Corporate Structure
FixedFloat OÜ is registered as a company in Estonia (registry number 14789012) and holds an Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) virtual currency service license (FVR001). The service is not registered as a money services business with US FinCEN and explicitly excludes US users from its platform.
Developer API
FixedFloat provides a documented REST API that allows developers and partners to integrate swap functionality directly into their own products. The API supports real-time exchange rate queries, order creation, order status tracking, QR code generation for deposit addresses, and handling of edge cases such as expired deposit windows or incorrect amounts. Authentication uses HMAC SHA256 signing with an API key and secret. The rate limit is 250 weighted request units per minute, with order creation consuming 50 units and other read operations consuming 1 unit each. Partners using the API can also integrate FixedFloat's affiliate program, adjusting commission splits through API parameters for eligible accounts.
Affiliate Program
FixedFloat operates an affiliate referral program that distributes 40% of the service's profit margin from transactions generated by referred users. Affiliates receive a unique referral link and can track earnings through their account dashboard. The API supports affiliate parameter injection for partners building embedded swap tools.
Security History
FixedFloat experienced two significant security incidents in early 2024. The first occurred on the night of February 16–17, 2024, when an attacker exploited a vulnerability in the company's third-party hosting infrastructure at Time4VPS, a Lithuanian server provider. Approximately $26.1 million in Bitcoin and Ethereum was stolen in that breach. A second attack occurred on March 31, 2024, when the same attacker exploited residual access through the same hosting provider to compromise additional infrastructure. Total losses across both incidents amounted to approximately $28 million. Because FixedFloat operates as a non-custodial platform, user funds in transit at the time of the incidents were the source of the losses rather than held customer balances; the company reported absorbing these losses from its own reserves and fulfilling outstanding user orders.
FixedFloat suspended operations for approximately two months following the incidents to rebuild its security infrastructure, relocate servers away from the compromised hosting provider, and implement additional protective measures. The service relaunched in late May and early June 2024 under the ff.io domain. Post-relaunch security measures include air-gapped multi-signature settlement procedures for large transactions. The team did not publicly disclose full details of the new security architecture, citing ongoing investigation concerns. No further security incidents have been publicly reported since April 2024.
Team
FixedFloat was founded in 2018 by a team describing itself as blockchain specialists. The team does not publicly disclose the identities of its members and maintains an anonymous operational structure. Customer support is handled through Telegram live chat and email ticketing, with support staff operating during European business hours.
Solana Relevance
For Solana ecosystem participants, FixedFloat offers a no-registration path to move value between SOL and SPL tokens and assets on other major blockchains. The non-custodial model and absence of account requirements align with self-custody principles common in the Solana DeFi community. Users holding SOL or Solana-based stablecoins can use FixedFloat to convert to Bitcoin, Ethereum-based assets, Monero, or stablecoins on other networks without connecting to a centralized exchange or submitting identification. The API integration option also makes FixedFloat a candidate for developers building Solana-adjacent products that require cross-chain conversion functionality.
