Choise

MetaFi ecosystem bridging crypto earning, spending, and DeFi — now defunct

About

Choise

Choise (also marketed as Choise.ai) was a crypto financial services platform that positioned itself as a "MetaFi" ecosystem — a term the company coined to describe the merger of centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) within a single application. The platform grew out of Crypterium, a crypto banking startup founded in 2017, and operated under that brand until a full rebrand to Choise.com in July 2022. By the time of the rebrand, Crypterium had accumulated over 700,000 registered users and reported approximately 230 million euros in annual turnover for 2021.

From Crypterium to Choise

Crypterium launched as a crypto-powered banking application, offering custodial wallets, fiat conversion, and a Visa-branded debit card that allowed users to spend digital assets at merchants worldwide. The Crypterium debit card was accepted at over 42 million retailers and ATMs globally, covering most standard Visa acceptance points. The company was incorporated and licensed through Leon Services UAB, a Lithuanian entity, allowing it to operate within European financial regulatory frameworks.

The 2022 rebrand to Choise.com reflected an ambition to extend beyond the CeFi banking model. The new platform retained all existing Crypterium services and added a DeFi layer called Charism, a non-custodial cross-chain wallet and DeFi aggregator. Vladimir Gorbunov, who served as Founder and CEO, framed the shift as a move to make DeFi accessible to over 100 million users by eliminating the friction of managing multiple wallets, switching chains, and navigating separate protocols.

Platform Architecture

Choise structured its offering around two integrated components:

Crypterium (CeFi layer): Custodial wallet and account management, cryptocurrency purchases via bank card, fiat on- and off-ramps, peer-to-peer transfers, currency exchange, and the Visa debit card for real-world spending. The CeFi layer also offered crypto-backed loans and price insurance products, which allowed users to lock in a minimum guaranteed price when purchasing Bitcoin or Ethereum, providing downside protection if the market moved against them at settlement.

Charism (DeFi layer): A non-custodial cross-chain wallet designed to aggregate DeFi protocols across major blockchains under a single interface. Charism included a DEX aggregator, staking and yield farming aggregation, liquidity pool access, chain bridges for cross-chain asset movement, an NFT marketplace, and derivatives products. The platform marketed APY rates as high as 500% through its DeFi protocol aggregator, though such figures reflected peak DeFi conditions rather than guaranteed returns.

The platform also offered dual-currency interest accounts tied to BTC and ETH, a structured yield product where settlement currency depended on whether the spot price exceeded a linked price at expiry. If prices were higher, the user received yield in the investment asset; if lower, yield was distributed in USDC.

Solana Integration

Choise had meaningful connections to the Solana ecosystem. The platform conducted its IDO (initial DEX offering) on SolRazr, a Solana-based launchpad, establishing an early relationship with Solana infrastructure. The CHO token was issued primarily as an ERC-20 on Ethereum but was also made available on Solana and Binance Smart Chain, enabling multi-chain access for token holders. Charism's cross-chain wallet supported Solana alongside Ethereum, Polygon, Tron, Base, and other networks, allowing users to manage Solana-based assets within the unified interface.

CHO Token

Choise's native token began as CRPT under the Crypterium brand. Following the rebrand, the company executed a full token merge in 2024, converting CRPT holdings to CHO at a rate of 1 CRPT to 1.05 CHO. CHO was designed as a utility token granting holders access to boosted APY rates, CHO airdrops, and enhanced yield farming returns within the ecosystem. Several major exchanges, including HTX, supported the token swap.

Shutdown and Liquidation

Choise.com ceased operations following the liquidation of Leon Services UAB, its Lithuanian operating entity. The company's public registry entry changed to "Likviduojamas" (under liquidation) effective around April 1, 2025, with the liquidation decision made on March 18, 2025. Following the liquidation announcement, users reported being unable to withdraw funds. Customer support communications indicated that outstanding user balances would be converted to USDC at the Kraken exchange rate as of March 18, 2025, the date of the liquidation decision.

The platform is no longer operational. The domain choise.com remains registered but does not serve functional content. Choise.ai and related social accounts went inactive around the same period. No successor entity or asset recovery program has been independently verified.
