On-chain activity
Dexter Voice
Dexter Voice provides hands-free cryptocurrency trading through realtime speech recognition and natural language processing. The system converts spoken commands into transcripts, recognizes token tickers and trading intent, executes swaps on Solana via automated routing, and generates on-chain receipts for audit verification. Users can initiate trades by speaking naturally without manual input or form filling.
Dexter MCP Server
Dexter MCP Server implements Model Context Protocol integration for ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI assistants, enabling authenticated agents to execute on-chain Solana operations through unified tool interfaces. The system provides OAuth2 authentication, session management, and tool bundles for wallet operations, market data retrieval, token swaps, and blockchain interactions. Developers can deploy via HTTPS transport for hosted connectors or stdio transport for local agent integration.
Dexter x402 Facilitator
Dexter x402 Facilitator implements the x402 payment protocol for AI agent micropayment settlement on Solana. The system validates tool requests through cryptographic verification, processes DEXTER token payments with millisecond confirmation times, generates on-chain receipts for audit trails, and maintains facilitator endpoints for autonomous agent-to-agent transactions. The implementation serves both as payment provider for Dexter services and payment consumer for external x402-compatible resources.
Dexter
Dexter is a self-custody payment infrastructure platform built on Solana that serves as a financial layer for AI agents. Launched in 2024, Dexter positions itself as the "money layer for the agent economy," enabling people, companies, and autonomous software agents to conduct payments, extend credit, and fulfill obligations without relinquishing account control.
The Problem Dexter Addresses
Traditional payment systems assume a human is authorizing each transaction. As AI agents increasingly perform tasks on behalf of users — browsing, researching, trading, booking services — they need a way to pay for what they access. Existing API billing models (subscriptions, static API keys) break down when agents call thousands of endpoints dynamically. Dexter is built around the x402 open standard, which repurposes the HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status code to enable instant, per-request stablecoin micropayments between machines.
Core Products
Dexter Wallet is a self-custodial account that displays a user's funds, available credit, and agent access in one place. Users configure hard spending caps that agents cannot exceed regardless of instructions. The wallet's premise is that the user always owns the account; agents are delegated access within defined bounds, with every permission enforced on-chain.
The Dexter x402 Facilitator is a public, free-to-use endpoint at x402.dexter.cash that verifies and settles x402 payments across 11 blockchains: Solana and ten EVM networks including Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, BNB Chain, SKALE, World Chain, Monad, and Robinhood Chain. Developers integrate it by pointing their x402 middleware at a single URL with no account setup and no facilitator fees. In March 2026, Dexter became the first x402 facilitator capable of verifying and settling Solana smart wallet payments, with support for Crossmint institutional wallets, Squads multisig vaults, and ERC-4337 smart accounts alongside standard Solana AI agent wallets.
OpenDexter is an OAuth-compatible integration layer that lets users bring their Dexter account into any MCP-enabled client — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, and others. An AI assistant operating in those environments can use a user's Dexter wallet, subject to their configured caps, to pay for services mid-conversation without the user manually authorizing each call.
Dexter Connect extends this model to websites via an OAuth-style sign-in flow, allowing services to authenticate users and access their self-custodial Dexter Wallet without collecting credentials.
Indexter is a marketplace launched in August 2026 for discovering and sharing agent-accessible x402 services. At launch it listed nearly 4,900 services from over 670 providers, including data offerings from Nansen, Exa, OpenRouter, and CoinGecko, each showing pricing and expected outputs before payment is committed. Indexter also supports multi-step workflows that chain multiple x402 services into automated pipelines — for example, combining a research API, a summarization model, and a communications service into a single agent task.
Tabs are programmable spending thresholds that trigger automatic stops when an agent's spending approaches a preset limit, giving users fine-grained control over recurring or session-based agent activity.
Dexter Shield provides privacy-preserving transfers by routing funds through temporary anonymous addresses before delivery, obscuring the link between sender and recipient.
Dexter Voice enables hands-free on-chain transactions. Users can issue voice commands to execute Solana DEX swaps in seconds, with Amazon Alexa among the supported integrations.
Technical Architecture
Dexter is built natively on Solana and implements the x402 payment protocol as an open standard for machine-to-machine commerce. The SDK package @dexterai/x402 (and chain-specific @x402/svm) lets API providers mark endpoints as paid with a single line of code. When an agent hits a paid endpoint, it receives an HTTP 402 response with payment terms, pays automatically in USDC, and then receives the resource — the entire sequence happens without human intervention.
The facilitator endpoint supports exact settlement, "upto" settlement for variable-price requests, and batch settlement for bundling multiple calls. Its multi-chain design means a payment initiated on Solana can settle on an EVM network without the user managing bridges.
Market Position
By mid-2025, Dexter had grown into one of the largest x402 facilitators by daily transaction volume on Solana. Independent analyses cited approximately 77 percent Solana market share among x402 facilitators and roughly 1.51 million weekly transactions at peak. The platform has attracted integrations from Ramp, ClawPump, PodAI, and other agent-economy projects building on its infrastructure.
DEXTER Token
A DEXTER community token (mint: EfPoo4wWgxKVToit7yX5VtXXBrhao4G8L7vrbKy6pump) launched on Pump.fun in late 2025. The team has referenced it as a way for holders to participate in hackathons and ecosystem activities, but it does not currently represent a formal governance or fee-capture mechanism within the core payment infrastructure.
Status
Dexter is actively developed, with product updates through August and September 2026 including the Indexter marketplace launch, a site redesign, and participation in Solana ecosystem hackathons. The facilitator endpoint shows ongoing settlement activity across multiple counterparties.
