About

CoinW

CoinW is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange founded in January 2017, now headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with additional offices in Singapore, Turkey, Japan, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Over roughly eight years of operation the platform has grown from a regional Asian exchange into a globally accessible trading venue, reporting more than 20 million registered users across 200+ countries by 2025 and daily trading volumes that routinely reach several billion dollars, with peaks above $8 billion during active market conditions.

Trading Products

The exchange's core offering is a spot market spanning more than 500 listed cryptocurrencies and 400+ active trading pairs. Coverage includes major assets like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL), along with a wide selection of DeFi tokens, meme coins, and smaller-cap altcoins. The platform has been actively expanding its presence in the Solana and Base ecosystems as of 2026, adding new token listings and trading pairs tied to those networks.

Futures and derivatives trading is available with leverage up to 125x on flagship contracts such as BTC/USDC and ETH/USDC, and up to 50x on newer perpetual futures like OPN/USDT, which were introduced in early 2026. Futures fees are set at 0.01% for makers and 0.06% for takers. Spot trading operates on a tiered VIP system starting at 0.2% for both makers and takers at the entry level, scaling down to 0.01% at the highest tier. Holders of the native CWT token receive additional fee discounts of up to 95%.

Extended Product Suite

Beyond spot and futures, CoinW operates a range of ancillary products aimed at automating and diversifying how users engage with the markets.

Copy trading allows users to mirror the positions of experienced traders in both spot and futures markets, with real-time position tracking and configurable risk parameters. Trading bots cover several strategies out of the box, including Spot Grid, Futures Grid, Martingale, CTA (trend-following), and Auto-Invest (dollar-cost averaging). These bots run directly on the platform without requiring external infrastructure.

Earn products provide flexible and fixed-term yield options on held assets, offering passive income for users not actively trading. P2P trading allows direct peer-to-peer transactions in supported fiat and crypto pairs.

PropW is a proprietary trading simulation environment that provides participants with up to $200,000 in virtual capital. Traders who perform well can qualify for a profit-sharing arrangement paying out 80% of simulated gains, positioning it as both a practice ground and a talent-identification program.

DeriW, launched in 2025, is a decentralized derivatives exchange built on a Layer 3 network and integrated with CoinW's broader platform. It offers zero-gas perpetual contracts, allowing users to access on-chain derivatives without absorbing per-transaction gas costs. DeriW represents CoinW's push into hybrid CeFi/DeFi infrastructure.

GemW, also launched in 2025, serves as a token launchpad and early-access platform for new project listings. Launch X functions as CoinW's broader token issuance and initial exchange offering (IEO) platform, connecting emerging projects with the exchange's user base.

The CoinW Card is a Visa-backed debit card available in 176+ countries, letting users spend crypto balances in everyday settings.

Technology and Infrastructure

CoinW's matching engine was upgraded to a 2.0 architecture in 2021, supporting microsecond-level trade execution to reduce slippage and improve order fill quality during high-volume periods. The platform is available via web and mobile applications for both iOS and Android, with TradingView charting integrated into the trading interface.

No-KYC access is available for basic account functions, though identity verification unlocks higher withdrawal limits and additional product access. The platform employs over 250 people and the exchange uses a tiered VIP system based on CWT token holdings to structure fee discounts.

Security and Regulation

In 2023 CoinW experienced a security breach that resulted in approximately $13 million being stolen from a hot-wallet subsidiary. The exchange covered the full loss from its own reserves and subsequently overhauled its security architecture, adopting Multi-Party Computation (MPC) wallet technology to eliminate single points of failure in private key management. Additional protective layers include multiple two-factor authentication options, trading passwords, passkey support, anti-phishing codes, and biometric authentication. Security features are not all enabled by default, and users are advised to activate 2FA and trading passwords manually after registration.

On the regulatory side, CoinW obtained clearance from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) in 2023 and is registered with AUSTRAC in Australia. The platform also publishes Proof of Reserves disclosures. The absence of licenses from major regulators such as the UK's FCA limits availability for users in those jurisdictions.

Native Token and Ecosystem

CoinW's native platform token, CWT, was redesigned in 2019 and plays a central role in the fee discount and VIP tier structure. CWT holdings determine a user's tier level, with higher tiers unlocking progressively lower trading fees across spot and futures markets.

In 2024 CoinW announced sponsorship partnerships with LaLiga (the Spanish football league) and the Professional Fighters League (PFL), extending its brand into mainstream sports audiences. These partnerships placed CoinW alongside larger exchanges competing for recognition in non-crypto media environments.

Milestones

  • 2017: Exchange founded
  • 2019: CWT token redesigned
  • 2020: Won "Most Influential Platform" and "Most Popular Exchange by Users" industry awards
  • 2021: Launched 2.0 matching engine with microsecond trade execution
  • 2023: Obtained VARA Dubai regulatory clearance; adopted MPC wallet technology following a $13M security breach
  • 2024: Partnerships with LaLiga and Professional Fighters League; expanded global marketing
  • 2025: Surpassed 20 million registered users; launched DeriW (decentralized derivatives), PropW, and GemW
  • 2026: Introduced OPN/USDT perpetual futures and enhanced BTC/USDC and ETH/USDC contracts; began Solana and Base ecosystem expansion

CoinW operates as a full-featured centralized exchange with an increasingly hybrid DeFi layer. Its combination of established tenure, a large registered user base, competitive fee tiers on futures, and newer products like DeriW positions it as a mid-market global exchange, particularly serving non-US and non-EU markets where lighter regulatory frameworks allow broader product access.
